Terms of Service

Welcome to Tafil. By downloading, installing, or using the Tafil application ("Software") or visiting our website, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). Please read them carefully.

1. License & Scope of Use

Tafil grants you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable, single-user license to install and run the Software on compatible macOS devices that you personally own or control.

This Software is licensed, not sold. You may not decompile, reverse-engineer, disassemble, or attempt to derive the source code of the Software, nor bypass any registration or serial key protections.

2. Local-First & Zero-Telemetry Philosophy

We believe in absolute data ownership. Tafil operates strictly under a "local-first" paradigm:

Your captured notes, clipboard events, and keys are stored and processed entirely on your physical machine.
We do not host, sync, backup, or maintain any of your files or databases in the cloud.
No analytical trackers, telemetry scripts, or user profiling is executed on our landing page or inside the Software.

Because your data never leaves your computer, you are solely responsible for securing, backing up, and maintaining your notes (e.g. through native backup tools like Time Machine or Obsidian-specific sync utilities).

3. Intellectual Property

All title, ownership, and intellectual property rights in and to the Software, the landing page design, assets, and branding remain exclusively with Touseef Ahmad. All rights not expressly granted to you are reserved.

4. Updates

We may periodically release Software updates via GitHub Releases. Doubleslash can check for a newer version on launch (at most once per day) and from the menu bar (Check for Updates…); when an update is available, you download and install the new build yourself. No paid update service is used.

5. Limitation of Liability & No Warranty

THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

IN NO EVENT SHALL TOUSEEF AHMAD OR TAFIL BE LIABLE FOR ANY CLAIM, DAMAGES, LOSS OF DATA, OR OTHER LIABILITY, WHETHER IN AN ACTION OF CONTRACT, TORT, OR OTHERWISE, ARISING FROM, OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH THE SOFTWARE OR THE USE OF THE SOFTWARE.

6. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Pakistan, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any legal action or proceeding arising under these Terms will be brought exclusively in the courts located in Lahore, Pakistan.
